Avantone MixCubes, while originally inspired by the 5C sound cubes of decades ago, have become the industry standard in studios worldwide and the #1 best-selling loudspeaker of its kind.
Technical Objective
The Avantone Active Mixcubes are designed as high-resolution, fully functional mini reference monitors for stationary or mobile use. The secondary technical objective was to create a timeless design that incorporates a single full-range transducer.
Cabinet Design
The original 5C Sound Cubes™ were made of ½" particle board covered with a glued-on wood grain chlorine bromide silver paper. The manufacturer opted for a thicker, denser MDF board because of its greater strength and lower-resonance performance.
Driver Design
The originals were a simple 5" frame design. Today, a die-cast aluminum 5.25" driver/cone assembly was designed to exceed the performance of the originals. The driver's top plate and T-yoke are made of Sumitomo 1008 low carbon steel.
Amplifier Design
The amplifier module was designed from the ground up as a true professional amplifier.
