The 4055 was designed to take kick bass to the next level. It turns the traditional concept of a kick drum microphone on its head. You no longer get a pre-made sound - but can take complete control of the design.
The 4055 stands out from competitors because it delivers the familiar DPA sound, clarity and linear frequency response both on and off axis. This microphone's low-frequency response, dynamic range, and sound pressure handling are outstanding, resulting in a very tight, natural, and well-defined sound. Treble, bass, and midrange - it's all there.
The 4055 is one of the few kick drum mics that is not tailored to a traditional sound in a specific genre. Its performance allows a professional sound designer to create exactly the sound they want to hear, regardless of music genre. Want more attack? Slide the 4055 into the bass drum and aim it directly at the beater. For a super low-end sound, place the 4055 at the hole, right on the outside of the front head. This is where the sub and low end have the most impact.
